Inferno "Aimless… Hopelessly lost In the middle of my life Drifting and despondent No center no direction Loss has rendered me lost The love that escaped my grasp Now alone in a world so dark Confronted with Leopard, Lion, and Wolf Searching to find the long-lost light Necessitates a trek through time and after life With poet by my side message at the gates “Abandon all hope ye who enter here” Virtuous pagans of Elysian Fields, the godless damned Lost souls in their homes dwelling in hell, hurled by Minos Lustful Sinners being tossed around by winds of Hades Gluttonous heathens pelted by ice Eternal burden the greedy man’s stone Hideous wretches writhing in anguish Down in the depths I empathize I must endure my journey mired in pain, still I go on To see my lost love again face the sadness, sink in the pit The pain of wrathful sinners seems to mirror my own Grasping for hope among the hopeless I need a light to pull me through Seeing their pain, a horrific weight Do I deserve the same as them? Stench of molten flesh Hellish winds make me wretch Guide and I are trudging forward Among these damned for pride Repentless sins of the Lion Never do they go unpunished I turn the question inward Will this be my fate? Spiraling down to the core Cold hard winds chill our souls Terrified I descend Fallen angel waits in the center of hell On Grayson’s back we descend Into a dismal icy din Appalled at what I see Faces wrought with misery Damned are trapped in frozen layers Cold dwellings for hideous sinners Walk the most inward circle To the core of hell Lucifer flaps his wings Sinners of the wolf I can’t look away from The face of SATAN Paradise Wrap my mind around a quest, internal questions Through the fire and the ice, terrible confusion Frightened and shaken, but not without hope I found my love in paradise Go walk with Beatrice to see God Eunoe and Lethe washed me clean I can stay and be guided In the sphere of the moon Angels who once were humans Souls full of love and folly Saved by the merciful light I must find the source of love The light that guides us Am I worthy of the light? Can I see it? Through the sphere of Mercury Ambitious but good-hearted souls Lovers in the sphere of Venus With desires like my own Profound philosophies Imperfect just the same Have been given loving refuge Because they believed in the light Love is why I seek you I find that love’s divine I’m asking can it be true? Does love mean seeing the light? Moving toward the empyreal light and angels all around me Am I worthy to see God? Seeing their lost souls in Hell remind me of my own transgressions Too impure to see the light Can my quest for love be enough to grant me my mercy? I’m in awe and afraid Beatrice hold my hand show me to the source of goodness I’m like one who sees in dream Dream is gone an impression remains Nothing comes to mind again Vision fails, sweetness born Still distills inside my heart Love that moves sun and stars Searching for love and finding light Searching for light and finding love If God is love and God is light Do we become God when we love? The quest for light is divine When we love are we then light?

about

Gravehuffer Joplin, Missouri

Since their inception in 2008, Gravehuffer has crafted their sound into an other-worldly amalgamation of Crust, Punk, Metal, Grindcore, and unapologetic down-tuned Sludge-laden Doom. With an assortment of original songs in their repertoire that showcase the vast array of influence the band pulls from and a fearlessness to never conform or compromise, Gravehuffer is in it for the sake of the song. ... more
